The knowledge gained during the workshop and essay will lay the basis for an on-site development of the design. The main aim is a settlement conservation through community empowerment for the
Lugu
Lake
communities.
Lugu
Lake
is situated on the border of the two south-west Chinese provinces
Sichuan
and
Yunnan
.
The objectives of the design studio are:
- the Sustainable Development and Cultural Conservation in response to the acute crises of local development, cultural identity, and water pollution.
- the process of Community Participation and Settlement Conservation
- the strategies for Local Economic Development through Responsible Tourism and the Transformation of Ecological Agriculture
The multi-design strategies will be developed during the Design Studio together with participants from other joint Universities and Institutes in
Asia
. The result will be presented to the community and the local government.
To subscribe to this design studio, students are required to enroll either for the msc-courses Globalization or Urban Body Laboratory. Due to a limitation in accommodation facilities at the site a maximum of 15 students will be accepted to this studio. This studio is solely open to students who are enrolled in the masters of architecture or urbanism.
